Speck Products iGuy Review

A review of Speck Products iGuy, the first iToy for the iPod.

Quick Tracks: Pros/Cons & Conclusion - iGuy Photo Gallery - Discussions

Packaging & First Impressions

The iGuy from Speck Products hit us in the funny bone from the minute we heard about it. Maybe we are a bit childish or immature, but this is just funny. The iGuy looks like he is Gumby's albino cousin or his robot slave. In the packaging only his hands are free, but when you break him loose, watch out!

Get in my belly!

The iGuy is made of white rubber and metal has a face for the iPod screen, a belly full of scroll wheel and some holes in his head for headphones. He has long arms, short stumpy but sturdy legs and a cute little butt in the back. To get your iPod into the iGuy you bend him over ("be gentle doc"), split him at his belt and slowly slide your iPod up into his innards. A little creepy, but it gets the job done. Our iGuy was filled with the iPod Photo 60GB but has a plastic plate that will allow him to hold smaller iPods. According to Speck's website, the iGuy Mini is coming soon.

Once our iGuy was up and running we thought he should meet the rest of the family so we had him posing with other iPods and holding his little baby, the iPod shuffle all of which were captured on film. The played for hours, laughing, singing, telling tall tales of MacWorlds past, it was seriously cute and just a little demented.

Conclusion
