Packaging & First Impressions

First up the OtterBox looks like a little storm trooper outfit for your iPod. It comes in white with grey accents and has two covered openings, one for the screen and another for the click wheel. There is a large latch on the top that pops open to reveal a padded and rubber interior. The faceplate comes completely off but easily latches back on from the bottom first.

Take it and not break it

The OtterBox is a dustproof, dirtproof, sandproof and drop-proof case for your iPod which allows you to take your iPod where it might not have been able to go before. Of course, your iPod can go in it's "birthday suit" to the beach but one too many grains of sand and even two years worth of AppleCare won't help it out. The OtterBox gives another option for you rugged 'podders of the summer. Otter Box also offers models to hold first, second and third generation iPods as well as iPod minis. If your iPod gets lonely destroying the empire OtterBox also makes cases for PDAs so your Palm get join in the fun.

Since the beach is a way too scary place for us computer people, we took the OtterBox into the tub where we happily listened to music while splashing around with our rubber ducky. The OtterBox did a great job of keeping our iPod dry and safe but didn't do anything for the duck since we all know ducks and otters are mortal enemies.
