- Apple updated the low and high end iPods this morning after taking its online store down for about an hour. The new iPod mini comes in three new colors and adds a new 6GB model for $249 while the 4GB model drops to $199. All models now have 18 hours of battery life and charge over USB 2.0. The iPod Photo models got an update dropping the 40GB model and replacing it with a 30GB priced at $349 while the 60GB model drops to $449 down from $599. All available at the Apple Store

- Apple announced today that the iTunes Music Store (iTMS for those playing along at home) hit 300 million purchased and downloaded songs. I guess all those iPoders are actually out there buying away. Not sure if it includes the Pepsi promotion.

Of course the iPod was in good company with Tivo, E-Z Pass, screwpull corkscrew and the Sonicare toothbrush. I guess all you need to change your life is go for a drive with a bottle of wine while listening to music and knowing you won't miss one TV show or a bright smile.

If that isn't enough to rattle your bones, Apple has thrown all of the iPods into the land of color now offering a 20GB color iPod for $299 and a 60GB color iPod for $399. To bring the Bono model (U2 edition) up to speed, it too went color for $329. Welcome all you grey screened brothers and sister to the world of color.
