The rumor mill is winding up with talk of Apple looking for developers with experience with the iPod and games on the Gamasutra website.

Apple Updates iPod Mini & iPod Photo

Apple updated the low and high end iPods this morning after taking its online store down for about an hour. The new iPod mini comes in three new colors and adds a new 6GB model for $249 while the 4GB model drops to $199. All models now have 18 hours of battery life and charge over USB 2.0. The iPod Photo models got an update dropping the 40GB model and replacing it with a 30GB priced at $349 while the 60GB model drops to $449 down from $599. All available at the Apple Store

iTunes Hits 300,000,000 Downloads

Apple announced today that the iTunes Music Store (iTMS for those playing along at home) hit 300 million purchased and downloaded songs. I guess all those iPoders are actually out there buying away. Not sure if it includes the Pepsi promotion.

Seems like just days ago that Apple hit the million video sales mark. Fast forward just over a month and Apple has sold another two million videos topping out at a nice 3,000,000 total in sales. On that news, AAPL went up over two dollars.

Another Steve-note and some more facts to add to the history of the iPod. Apple sold over 14 million iPods during the 2005 holiday season up from 4.5 million last year. The iTunes Music Store now has 83% market share, has sold over 850 million songs which is 3 million a day. In the new video selling business, Apple has sold over 8 million videos since Oct 12, 2005. As for products, Apple announced the new FM tuner for the iPod which plugs into the bottom of the iPod and tunes it into the screen for 5th generation iPods.
