Over the years as we have reviewed a lot of OtterBox wares, we have come to expect a solid product, well priced and one that protects our technological investments whether that be a Palm Treo, iPod Shuffle or iPhone 3G. It is nice to know that more things change, the more they stay the same.

The new Impact Series from OtterBox is a step beyond their usual total protection with waterproof cases and into more everyday use. The black rubber case (also available in white) fits snugly around our test iPhone 3G leaving the screen open for easy viewing and touching.

Hardly Impacted

The OtterBox Impact Series are meant to be a step above most iPhone cases in that the corners are reinforced with extra layers for those inevitable drops. The idea being, protect the areas that usually take the most damage in drops, the corners. While we tested the case with a few drops we didn't go much above a few feet but know the OtterBox would provide a higher survival ratio. The back of the case is also crossed with another layer of rubber for drops on the back of the iPhone.

As with most things OtterBox, the case has all the right holes from speaker to camera, from proximity sensor to Apple logo. The case sits well in the hand with a solid non-slip feel but does add a little to the overall size of the phone.

Conclusion

The OtterBox Impact Series is a good case for those who are a little more clumsy, who might have already gone through an iPhone or two and need that extra-extra protection.
